Community Outreach & Education
Education Programs
We host a variety of groups at the Islamic Resource Center for educational presentations, art and cultural exhibitions, films, workshops and panel discussions. Guests range from university students, community groups, faith groups, social justice organizations and school groups.
Networking Brunch
The MMWC monthly Networking Brunch welcomes everyone to the Islamic Resource Center for a delicious buffet and engaging discussions. Open to all socio-cultural and faith backgrounds, the brunch fosters connection, cultural awareness, and friendship in a warm, relaxed setting.
Rooted in Islamic hospitality, sharing a meal breaks barriers and creates lasting memories. Topics range from Islamic subjects to cooking, art, politics, health, and more, encouraging dialogue and shared learning. Both men and women are welcome.
Regional Flagship Language Initiatives
The Boren Awards' South Asia Flagship Language Initiative (SAFLI) at UW-Madison offers intensive summer programs in Hindi and Urdu. Each year, SAFLI students visit the Islamic Resource Center to engage with Turkish and Indonesian speakers, enhancing conversational skills and learning about Islamic culture in preparation for immersion in Muslim-majority countries.
International Visitors
The Muslim Women’s Coalition is frequently called upon to host visitors from around the world. The visitors are chosen by embassies overseas and are part of the U.S. State Department’s National Council for International Visitors (NCIV) which is based in Washington D.C.
