Adult and Youth Book Clubs

The Islamic Resource Center has and adult and young adult book club. Clubs vote to select reading material, giving an equal voice to everyone. Exploring ideas and a healthy dialogue enlivens the group of enthusiastic readers.

Book clubs meet once a month to discuss a chapter or two of the current selection. New members are welcome to join at any time.

For more information on book clubs contact our librarian, Jenny Wegener!

Bookstore and Gift Shop

The bookstore features a wide variety of items, including Qurans, prayer rugs, thobes, abayas and hijabs, children’s books and games, prayer beads, Arabic art, greeting cards, cookbooks and Islamic decor.

It’s a popular destination for visitors seeking gifts for their Muslim family or friends. All proceeds directly support the Muslim Women’s Coalition.

Summer Programs

Children's Reading and Activity Camp

The Islamic Resource Center (IRC) library offers a free six week Summer Reading and Activity Camp for elementary students K5 through 8th grade. In addition, we also offer summer Story Times for younger children.

During summer months we encourage children to explore the library, and read widely to build language and vocabulary as well as develop their interests and curiosity.  Reading is a hobby whose benefits last a lifetime and the IRC strives to create a strong connection between our young readers and our quality book collection.

Summer events include team building activities, art projects, visits from area educational entertainers such as Mad Science, the Wehr Nature Center, and more.  Children earn prizes for reading and doing other activities. The role of the IRC librarian is to curate the library to reflect the community and encourage positive associations with reading.
