COVID-19 Education and Outreach
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Muslim Women’s Coalition (MMWC) quickly mobilized to deliver culturally competent health education to the diverse communities it serves.
While the population is multicultural, religion serves as a unifying cultural factor, and MMWC’s health education campaigns highlight the value of using trusted messengers for effective outreach. The organization coordinated and took part in over 100 community events and engagements, offering COVID-19 education in multiple languages.
COVID-19 City Wide Vigil
Annual Mental Health Conference
Wisconsin’s Muslim population is growing, encompassing both immigrants and refugees, yet there are very few Muslim mental health professionals in the state. A lack of cultural familiarity among many providers has created barriers for Muslim clients seeking mental health support.
The MWC addresses this gap by uniting mental health professionals, researchers, educators, advocates, and individuals with lived experiences from across Wisconsin. Together, they promote well-being, support recovery, and work to bridge the service gap in the behavioral health community.
