Youth Summer Internship
The Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition will be hiring several young people to assist with our three summer programs. These are part-time positions and are a great way to learn valuable work skills, network, and be a positive role model for younger students.
Interns will be assisting the Youth Programmer and IRC Librarian with the following programs:
This innovative program pairs Afghan youth with other students in the community. They then work together to complete team building activities.
Interns will be responsible for assisting with the programs, including set up and clean up, as well as modeling appropriate behavior for the students and facilitating the interaction between the youth.
Children, ages 3 to entering grade 8, will be able to complete activity sheets to earn prizes and raffle tickets. We will also offer in-person special events on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Interns will help out with awarding prizes and assisting kids at the special events. They will also help with set up, clean up, and assisting with craft projects.
A variety of activities and events designed to help young teens (ages 12 to 16) learn strategies to advocate for themselves.
Participants will share their stories, make new friends, build communication skills and increase their self-confidence all in a welcoming, Islamic-based environment.

Candidates ages 16 and older should possess the following skills and qualities to be considered for these positions:
- Organized and able to follow instructions. Able to multitask when needed.
- Good problem solving and decision making skills.
- Able to communicate effectively with adults and children.
- Able to focus on the tasks at hand and not be distracted.
- Punctual and able to commit to working the duration of the summer programs.
- Trustworthy and a good role model for children.
- Must possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Intern Responsibilities
Interns will be expected to fulfill the following responsibilities:
- Work 10 to 15 hours per week and arrive promptly for all scheduled shifts.
- Attend scheduled sessions of all assigned programs.
- Assist with the creation, facilitation, and reporting of programs. (This includes set up and post-event clean up).
