Communications Specialist
The Muslim Women’s Coalition (formerly the Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition) seeks a full-time Communications Specialist!
The Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition (MMWC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization empowering Muslim women and girls and promoting an accurate understanding of Islam and the Muslim community in the greater Milwaukee area. We seek a Marketing Coordinator to help us center the voices of often marginalized Muslim women and girls so they feel confident in who they are and, ultimately, the public views them as valued members of society.
At the Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition, much of our success can be attributed to our ability to amplify the lived experiences of Muslim women and girls. We’re searching for a Marketing Coordinator to help us reach targeted audiences to build on our organization's momentum. Our ideal candidate will have experience in a wide range of marketing functions, including communications, advertising, branding, digital marketing, and social media. Our Marketing Coordinator must be an organized multitasker, able to handle many diverse projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
The Communications Specialist of this non-profit organization is responsible for the development of the company’s branding materials in the form of print, web, and digital media. The Communications Specialist will work under the direction of the Executive Director and Director of Strategy to ensure the needs of the company and our members are met in a timely manner.

- Full Time position
- Starting pay dependent on experience, from $50,000 per year
- Design and produce visual assets from idea to final stage such as print and digital materials: newsletters, flyers, mailings, graphics, videos, reports, fundraising materials, etc.
- Communicate ideas that align with the company's brand and guidelines.
- Collaborate with other creative teams such as social media, Wisconsin Muslim Journal and community programming.
- Support capital campaigns, fund development campaigns, and other fundraising initiatives with creative materials.
- Support company branding strategy and implementation.
- Produce and maintain content archives, including photography, video, and design assets, to reflect ongoing work and community impact.
- Identify opportunities and ensure that all efforts serve our organizational goals to drive donor engagement, increase community awareness, and elevate public perception.
- Support the Islamic Resource Center including front desk operations, the Islamic Lending Library and bookstore.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Evaluate communications impact by assembling marketing activity and campaign impact reports that meet funder measurement and evaluation requirements.
- In partnership with our webmaster, manage and update our website’s visual design, copywriting, content, imagery, videos, and storytelling in service of our marketing strategy.
- Collaborate with the MWC team, senior leadership, and the board of directors to generate marketing and advertising ideas that promote positive perceptions of Muslim families, women and girls and accurate understandings of Islam.

- Experience designing media of various forms - print, digital, website, etc.

- Cultural Awareness and sensitivity.
- Strong understanding of Muslim culture and Islamic religion. Arabic language proficiency is a plus.
- Working knowledge of ad-serving tools and platforms, such as Google Ads and Meta Business Suite.
- Knowledge of Design Platforms (Canva, Adobe, etc), Google Workspace, Google Suite, MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications or related field with at least 2 years of Marketing, Advertising, and/or Web Design experience.
