Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition (MMWC) operates four key projects, highlighted below, as well as a wide range of programs that educate, inspire and build community.

Our Peaceful Home (OPH) is Culturally Specific Family Peace Program Serving Muslim Families.

OPH began at the beginning of 2019 with funding from the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families.  OPH is a culturally specific domestic abuse program that provides culturally informed education, safety planning, intervention, emergency housing, and advocacy as well as qualified interpreters for victims and survivors.  Our project has specific expertise with Muslim immigrants and refugees but our services are open to all.

MMWC board members and OPH staff are available to provide presentations to agencies, schools, service providers, institutions or any others who work with the Muslim population.

Janan Najeeb(CEO/Director) and Marlene Zahran(Public Health Coordinator) highlighted the background and health behaviors of Muslim Americans and the efforts of the Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition (MMWC) in providing culturally competent health education to the diverse community it serves. Although diverse, religion serves as a unifying cultural dimension for this population, and the MMWC’s health education campaigns emphasize the importance of using trusted messengers in their outreach.
